Victory!

The final results are in and we won by a comfortable margin! We received 6356 votes (59.26% of the total) to my opponent's 4285 votes (39.95% of the total).

This victory is shared by all of us, for I could not have done this alone.

Thank you to everyone who went door-to-door, who contributed financially, who wrote those wonderful letters to the editor, who endorsed me and helped me obtain endorsements, who made phone calls, put out lawn signs, passed out flyers, talked to their friends and neighbors, and gave us the support we needed to make it through this campaign.

A big thank you to Yvonne Day of Y.Day Designs for her work on the website, mailers and flyers that raised the bar for campaign literature in San Leandro.

Thanks also to Tim Holmes for the use of his color printer, his editing skills, the flyers he produced, the use of Zocalo Coffeehouse, his tireless fundraising efforts, and providing us with the motivation and advice we needed throughout the campaign.

Thanks to all those who shared their valuable campaign experience and advice, for their assistance in getting endorsements, and making phone calls and making sure that I did the right things, even though it was my first campaign.

Thanks to my wife for putting up with all of this, going above and beyond the call of duty in taking care of the kids, the house, and pretty much everything that I was too busy or too tired to do. And even with all that, she walked precincts with me, passed out flyers, provided sound campaign advice, edited campaign literature, provided motivation, and doing many of the things that a campaign manager does.

And a big thank you to my children, who had to cope with going to boring meetings or complain about me campaigning. They don't appreciate it now, but I hope they will in the future.
